If you haven't read DZone MVB Simon Brown's article "The Conflict between Agile and Architecture,"  you should definitely check it out after this article I found recently called "Architecture Can Be Agile."  It has 6 characteristics that agile architecture may include.  Simon Brown agrees that there's no reason to have conflicts with agile methodology and architecture planning.
