For those of you that have met me in person, you know I have a tendency to wear t-shirts with clever, ironic, and sometimes just arrogant words or artwork on them.  But as I’ve looked around the landscape of the shirts that are being offered anymore, there are very few that truly appeal to software developers.

So, I was thinking about what kinds of sayings, pictures, or bold statements YOU might wear on a t-shirt.  Here’s a few I’ve seen in real life that are in the vein of what I’m looking for:

  • “your phone sucks”
  • “VB6 developers can’t see sharp.”
  • “</head><body>” (right under the neck of the shirt)
  • “I don’t always test my code, but when I do, I prefer to do it IN PRODUCTION.”

Here are some of my favorite ideas that I've had for developer t-shirt slogans or designs.  Let me know if any of these would be particularly awesome to receive:


  • It's Not MAGIC, It's CODE (Don't tell my boss!)
  • I Became a Programmer… Because I Was a Terrible Ninja
  • Multithreaded T-Shirt
  • Code Thug
  • DevOperative  [For DevOps people, with some James Bond styling]
  • What part of… [some code snippet with clever hidden meaning] don't you understand?
  • The Beatings will Continue Until the Program is fixed! 
  • [this one is a little long-winded, but funny] Front: How many Java programmers does it take to change a light bulb?  Back: You’re still thinking procedurally.  A properly designed light bulb object would inherit a change method from a generic light bulb class, so all you’d have to do is send a light bulb change message.

  • (On the frong) Do you respond slow? (On the back) Go Index yourself. - DB Speicalists
  • I am Microsoft and I can Google with Bing.
  •  (Front) Debug Mode (Back) Release Mode
