Linux Foundation Releases Carrier Grade Linux 5.0 Specification

An ever-changing set of data requirements creates a market for a more robust Linux.  So far, Carrier Grade Linux, or CGL, has managed to stay on top of the increasing demands placed on data networks.  Among other things, version 5.0 of CGL Linux seeks to address the following issues:

  • Security loopholes: role-based Access Control and data access auditing.
  • Inclusion of per-thread identifiers for debugging.
  • Tuning features allow applications to "determine and optimize themselves for the specific system architecture on which they are running."

You can get the specs here.
