Liferay made quite a catch hiring former Sun strategist, Paul Hinz, to be their Chief Marketing Officer to its executive team. Hinz led strategies for Java EE and GlassFish products. Liferay got acquainted with Hinz when he migrated the GlassFish portal offering over to them. I guess Liferay looked a lot more lucrative once Sun's stock started falling.
In an effort to accelerate the pace of Firefox releases, Mozilla is releasing the second beta of Firefox 3.6. One of the updates in this beta is "a mechanism to prevent incompatible software from crashing Firefox." That's always good. Mozilla plans to release the final Firefox 3.6 before the end of the year.
Adobe intends to let go of 680 full-time employees (9% of its workforce) this year. The cuts are meant to bring Adobe's costs in line with its 2010 budget and will only affect employees who were with Adobe before the September acquisition of Omniture. Adobe cut 600 jobs back in December 2008 when their Creative Suite 4 didn't sell very well.
