The Evolution of Continuous Integration (Video)

Continuous integration evolved from the daily build.  In the late nineties and early 2000's, Continuous Integration evolved out of eXtreme Programming and took daily builds to the 'extreme' level, where you're building every time there's a change committed to version control.  Techniques like static analysis and deployment were later added to the continuous cycle of testing and deployment.

 Paul Duvall is the CEO of Stelligent, a company that focuses on software delivery automation.  They automate back-end processes such as compilation, testing, static analysis, deployment, and provisioning virtual instances.  Duvall is also the author of several DZone Refcardz.
