Uncle Bob on Software Craftsmanship
Bob Martin is the founder of Object Mentor, a team of experienced software professionals that provide Agile and Object Oriented Design training and consulting. He's been coding in Java, Ruby, and Clojure, and he says as you gain more experience coding in different languages it hones an element of skill and craft that supersedes any language. Martin talked about the concept of Software Craftsmanship four years ago, but now there is a renewed interest in the idea.
Martin explains his thoughts concerning both sides of the Scrum Certification debate and tells us that the first Scrum Certification training was held in his office by Ken Schwaber. He explains why he favors the Journeyman/Apprentice method in pair-programming as well. Finally, Martin gives developers some advice for making themselves more marketable in the current economic climate.
