Scott Westfall is the VP of software development for the SlickEdit tool. He says that SlickEdit's President/CEO is also their CTO and the head developer on the product. Westfall says he enjoys coming up with new features that can remove the frustrations that are common in programming. SlickEdit supports over 40 languages and runs on 7 platforms.
SlickEdit has been ahead of the curve in its twenty-year history, Westfall says. Their dynamic scripting language, Slick-C, was implemented ahead of the demand for dynamic scripting languages. SlickEdit was also using agile methodologies before the term was coined. The new version of SlickEdit (2010 version) is now available with notification, beefed up PHP support, and many other new features.
